Travel Health Consultations
Book your travel health consultation today with our pharmacist at Cullen Pharmacy. Are you planning on going aboard? Have you considered what you may need vaccine wise? Depending on the destination country, you may need some additional vaccinations to ensure you are safe. This initial consultation can be carried out over the phone, via email or even face to face. Once your vaccination history, destination country and travel dates are known, we can schedule your vaccinations most days at the pharmacy. (From September 2024, NHS Grampian decided to terminate the service offered via the NHS therefore no vaccines are available free of charge via the NHS, instead all are now chargeable as a private service).

Frequently Asked Questions About Vaccines for Travel
GP's historically would administer all vaccines required for travel purposes, but this is no longer the case since 2022. Instead, there are a handful of pharmacies that offer travel vaccinations under the NHS. Cullen Pharmacy being one in Moray, but not limited to patients registered with a GP in Moray, they can be with any GP surgeries within Scotland.
This varies depending on what vaccine it is. Some provide protection for 3 years, others 10 years, some 25 years after two doses within 3 years of each other (for Hepatitis A) and others life-long such as yellow fever.
Through the NHS, some are free of charge and others are not. Currently, as of 2022, within Scotland, the travel vaccines that are free of charge are (please note this has recently changed as of September 2024, whereby NHS Grampian have terminated the service and therefore no vaccines are provided free of charge):
- diphtheria, polio, and tetanus (combined booster)
- hepatitis A
- typhoid
- cholera
Vaccines not included for free are:
- yellow fever
- Japanese encephalitis
- tick-borne encephalitis
- rabies
- malaria tablets
- hepatitis B
- meningitis
- tuberculosis (TB)
