What is a Foot Health Practitioner?
A Foot Health Practitioner’s main role is to help patients who have foot problems. Not only through foot treatments, but also through advice on the types of shoes and hosiery to wear, in order to keep their feet healthy.
What’s the difference between a Podiatrist, Chiropodist & a Foot Health Practitioner (FHP)?
Chiropodists who perform chiropody and Podiatrists who perform podiatry are trained similarly to a degree level and are both registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). Both of these titles are protected by law and professionals are qualified and insured. Both of these professions – Podiatrist and Chiropodists, treat, diagnose and prevent conditions of the lower limbs. Some of these professionals go on to specialise in areas such as acute diabetic care, paediatrics, sports and vascular.
Foot Health Practitioners are also qualified and insured professionals that carry out routine foot health maintenance treatments including athlete’s foot, callus, corns, diabetic foot care, fungal infections, general foot care, nail cutting, verrucas and so on.
